Liberation Celebration

Our
Why
The Importance of acknowledging the overlap between LGBTQ+ and Juneteenth celebrations, as well as other marginalized communities, is essential for fostering a sense of solidarity and inclusivity.

Homer Pride's mission is to honor the rich tapestry of identities within our community by acknowledging the intersectionality between LGBTQ+ experiences and the commemoration of Juneteenth, alongside other marginalized communities. We recognize the historical context of both struggles for liberation and equality, understanding that unity in diversity is essential for fostering solidarity and achieving social change. Through embracing shared experiences and common goals, we aim to build coalitions, amplify voices, and advocate for a more inclusive and equitable society where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered. At Homer Pride, we celebrate the journey towards freedom, equity, and justice, standing together in unity as we continue to strive for a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

So in 2021 we began calling our Main Event a Liberation Celebration to welcome more reasons to celebrate.
