Homer Pride is a small, local, volunteer-led 501(c)(3) grassroots organization dedicated to uplifting LGBTQ+ people in solidarity with other historically marginalized communities through visibility, education, unity, and community-building in Homer, Alaska.
Due to current capacity challenges and the significant time, energy, and coordination required to organize a large-scale event, the organization is unable to produce the main event- Liberation Celebration this year. Historically, the Liberation Celebration (Juneteenth x Pride) has served as the culmination of the Community Walk, featuring vendors, performances, educational outreach, and community-centered spaces rooted in collective liberation.
However, celebrating liberation in unity remains central to Homer Pride’s mission. While the full celebration will not take place, Homer Pride will continue to host smaller community gatherings throughout June, (see our event flyers)
Homer Pride extends deep gratitude to the community and allied organizations for their continued support. If local organizations are interested in hosting queer-affirming, family-friendly events, they are invited to submit event details via email by May 27th for inclusion in a June community flyer.
Community support is essential to sustaining Homer Pride’s year-round operations, including expenses such as insurance, storage, and website maintenance. At this time, Homer Pride is actively raising funds through a donation drive on Zeffy and merchandise sales to help continue this work and maintain inclusive community programming and visibility in Homer.
